Back in October 2000, Vodafone purchased a 2.18 percent stake in China Mobile at a cost of $2.5 billion and then followed in 2002 with another purchase for $750 million taking their stake in China Mobile up to 3.27 percent. However, according to an article over on Intomobile by Stefan Constantinescu, and by way of the AFP , Vodafone is now considering selling off their interest in China Mobile and looking for a sum of $6.2 billion for their stake.

The iconic iPhone has been available in China via China Unicom for some time now; however Apple wants their iPhone with China’s largest mobile phone carrier, China Mobile; thus according to an article over on alibaba , China Mobile and Apple are at the negotiation table and talking. Apparently China Mobile’s Chairman and CEO, Wang Jianzhou has stated that China Mobile is in talks with Apple with a view to include TD-SCDMA in the next generation of the iPhone , sources have said. TD-SCDMA is China’s home grown 3G standard and China Mobile requires the iPhone to be able to use TD-SCDMA especially as China Mobile has a 3G user base of some 3.41 million as of the end of last year.

There seems to be a few LG handsets that get spotted before being announced these days and we have another one today known as the LG GW370 Shannon which happened to pop up on some Chinese website reports unwired view . So what does the LG GW370 Shannon offer? Well there isn’t a great deal known about the handset but it does pack a QVGA display along with a full slide out QWERTY keyboard, and appears to have a trackball.

It appears that Apple may finally be approaching getting the iPhone into China as a report on appleinsider has it that Apple has applied for a Network Access License in China. Apparently, Matt Mathison, an analyst for Wedge Partners states the application was filed on the 10th of July although he doesn’t say where this information comes from.
